About

Hello I’m Kerry, the gal behind Gravel Guide Scotland. I was born and bred in South Uist in the Outer Hebrides and I now live just outside the Trossachs in Stirlingshire. Gàidhlig is my first language and I absolutely love sharing stories and culture with people, particularly on a bike ride! My guided rides include plenty translations of loch and hill names and some folklore spraffles to bring our landscape to life even more.

On the bike, I’ve had some very cool adventures - I started riding in my 20’s and went on to race mountain bikes including at the Commonwealth Games, World Cups and plenty European races. During Covid I fell in love with big adventures, bike-packing and ultra cycling and since then my bike and I have been on many adventures together from bike packing in Portugal to exploring Scotland and seeking out the finest bivi spots around. After some cool FKT’s (fastest known times) on routes like the West Highland Way and The Badger Divide, I finally took my first foray into ultra racing last year, starting with the Highland Trail 550 and it seems that racing happy makes for racing fast. I’m 100% all in on ultra now!

Cycling still brings me a child like joy and it still feels like only yesterday that I started out. I love working with new riders and I love sharing my passion for Scotland, its landscapes and history and most especially my first language Gàidhlig.

Enough about me though….

…Gravel Guide Scotland is a wee team based out of Aberfoyle, Scotland. You probably won’t find a more Scottish pair than my pal Beth and I, a Highlander and an Islander! Beth lives a stones throw from the Gravelfoyle trails but grew up in the very North of Scotland by John O’ Groats. She is the expert on local flora and fauna and can match my spraffles with ease!

Beth and I have a lot of fun together, whether coaching or guiding. The Trossachs are a magic place to spend time on a bike and we really love sharing our local knowledge and getting more people on bikes.

Beth and I are also event organisers and work for our local Community Interest Company Bike Trossachs. You can check out our events here. Want to know more? Join us on a ride!
